I often get asked the question…how did you go from working as a CG/Animation Producer to teaching Pilates?

If you’ve been a producer in any area of the entertainment industry, the path seems too natural actually.  Burn-out rates are high and almost everyone takes a break or makes a run for the hills after  a particularly rough project.  I always planned to return to animation.  The money is good – the hours are long, but you get to work with some of the most talented people in the world.  Problem solvers, creative technicians, projects that range from video games to nature documentaries.  It’s all very exciting…but still you burn out easily.

I have lived in Los Angeles long enough to call myself a native.   I don’t even say I’m from Vermont anymore.  I spent my first 10 years after college working in the computer animation and entertainment industry – as I mention above.  During the last full time animation job, I discovered pilates as a way to give me a much needed break from the daily grind of production.

It got me away from the computer, the office, the whining animators (sorry guys!) and the most important benefit was it gave me more energy…

Oh yeah, it also stopped me from spending countless hours hunched in front of a computer!

Four years ago, I made the leap out of animation and into a completely new life. Sometimes I still can’t believe it.

I was trained by Maria Leone a well respected member of the Physical Mind Institute and general Pilates community.

I also continue to increase my knowledge of pilates with courses taken with John Garey of Stott Pilates and other area Master Trainers.

I look forward to focusing on further certification this year for work with Prenatal and Postnatal women — another piece of my pilates puzzle brought on by the birth of my daughter Mila in 2008.

Anne loves spreading the word about pilates and training as many “newbies” as she can. She knows first-hand how empowering and life changing pilates can be!
