Private & Group Training
While my focus is training new moms back to their pre-pregnancy bodies (and maybe better!), I do offer pilates for a variety of different people.
I focus on individual needs as much as possible — even in my group reformer classes. With that in mind, I do offer special pilates programs that you might be interested in:
Prenatal & Postnatal Pilates
I’m a mom and know how uncomfortable pregnancy can be…so, I often work with pregnant and recently pregnant women to get their bodies working again – and looking great again! Pilates for Pregnancy is a great way to get in shape and prepare for labor…It is also a wonderful way to bounce back from pregnancy. Pilates is a gentle strengthening exercise that most women can do. Check with your doctor before you start taking any prenatal or postnatal class. To read my story on getting back in shape physically and mentally after the first year of being a new mom, check out my article: Pilates and Motherhood.
*I teach a few new prenatal & postnatal pilates classes at Bebe PT now! Tuesdays at 4:30 & Saturdays at 9am, 10am!
Pilates for Golf
I have trained many men and women who enjoy golf as a casual sport. Often, these people don’t come to me for golf reasons, but they do notice the effects after the fact. Once they realize the benefits of pilates on their swing and drive, they ask me to focus their workouts more on those areas of the body which help them achieve a stronger golf game. In addition to being a great way to improve your golf game, pilates can also help prevent common golf related injuries. Let me know if you play golf!
Pilates for Men
Men are still not coming to pilates as often as I’d like to see but the ones that do really feel the results within a few sessions. Most men come into the group classes not knowing what to expect, then they realize how great they feel, as I help them relieve their tight hamstrings, hips and lower back. This trio of tightness is so common for men and I know that just by doing a basic reformer class, they are going to feel relief. If you are a man looking for more flexibility, core strength, and relief from that trio of tightness, let me know!
Pilates for Back Pain
Many people come to pilates hoping to solve their back problems. I often tell them to get doctor clearance first. Why? The cause of their back pain will dramatically alter the exercises that I do with them. Fore example, if I know you have a herniated disk in their cervical spine (neck), I will not have you lifting and lowering your head and shoulders. If you have pulled your lower back, I might put a pillow underneath your tailbone. While pilates can help you achieve balance & strength in your body and relieve tightness in your back, you need to approach pilates with caution. Many exercises can actually make your condition worse if I don’t know what’s going on!
Other Conditions that Benefit From Pilates
If you have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis or Osteopenia or even Multiple Sclerosis, you can benefit from regular pilates workouts. I have trained people in each of these areas and the best thing is knowing that they have these conditions. I can customize their workouts so they don’t worsen the condition–and what they can do is strengthen their bodies to feel less of the aches/pains associated with the issue. Knowledge is everything; so tell me if you have a specific condition or problem or ongoing issue with your body and let me find a way to help you! Check out what one of my clients says about how taking Pilates Classes helps her MS.
Online Pilates
Do you want to take a pilates class, but just can’t seem to find one that fits your schedule? For a limited number of people, I do offer a special online pilates program. After completing a health/fitness questionaire and assuming you have no really serious body conditions, we will meet once or talk on the phone and then I’ll create a pilates workout video for you to do at home. We’ll check in with each other every few weeks to see how the exercises are going and if you want a new workout! I usually like to meet with people once to go through the workout and videotape you doing the workout. It’s great to follow along with yourself instead of someone else. Then, you’ll hear the cues and advice I give you and remember how they felt in your body. Contact me to find out how you can start an online program.
